Community Outreach

This community service learning project explored recharge ideas for the community of Southcoast Hospital. Partnered with a nursing student from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, we learned about the current conditions surrounding the medical community and generated design strategies and options to give back to the hospital staff.

This concept was derived from healing gardens, which are designed to provide benefits to a diverse population with different needs.

Elements in the space allow staff to admire nature and experience psychological comfort. Nature can decrease blood pressure, respiration, brain activity, and the production of stress hormones.
